What is the Toronto Sake Challenge?
Sake and North America

The Toronto Sake Challenge is an international competition of sake, bridging Japanese sake and North America. This year marks the very first year of the Sake Challenge in Toronto, where vibrant food and beverage scenes stand out with a long history. It is also well-known for multicultural food, namely Canadian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Greek, Italian, and Japanese. In this widely diverse city, the sake applied by breweries will be judged by Certified Sake Sommeliers authorised by the SSA Sake Sommelier Association. They conduct judgement, focusing on flavours and aromas with food pairings – Asian and North American cuisine. We hope the Toronto Sake Challenge will be a great opportunity in Toronto to deepen the connection between sake and North America, where sake culture has been thriving.
